A small treasure to be discovered among the many that Milan hides, that of the Museum of Design is a story of excellence.
The project, which originated in Ravenna, was so ambitious that its creator Raffaello Biagetti himself called it “a romantic and utopian installation,” and to date it is a unique design legacy, one of the most important collections in Europe.
The current address is 9 Via Borsi, here it is possible to trace theevolution of design from 1880 to 1980 not through theories and description but by coming into contact with the pieces that contributed to changing the path of this discipline, from Gardella to Mendini, from Ponti to Gae Aulenti.
The space is organized according to chronological islands; at the entrance, the tour starts withArt Nouveau and goes all the way up to the works of the Memphis Group, with some pieces that have become continuities for manufacturing companies.
Needless to say, some of the key players, from the projects to the designers are to this day part of Sag’80’s catalog because timeless design remains an essential choice for those who read a history made up of eras, people, materials and companies behind every object.
