The story of
Emmemobili
is inextricably linked with the use of wood, a material that the company has been rediscovering and enhancing since 1879.
In fact, the different characteristics and peculiarities of each piece of wood used have inspired the philosophy of a brand that today stands out for its handcrafted production that, as opposed to serial production, allows for unique pieces that represent much more than the simple sum of design and functionality.
Also making possible this kind of footprint, carried on for more than a century by the Tagliabue family, have been the close collaborations with outstanding designers, which have allowed the company to constantly grow and evolve, grappling with new ideas, trends and workmanship.
Prominent among them is also the figure of Ferruccio Laviani, who has fully embraced Emmemobili’s philosophy by forging a long and fruitful partnership with the company, producing several iconic pieces.
THE SIGNATURE OF FERRUCCIO LAVIANI
Before establishing himself among the major players on the Italian and international design scene, Ferruccio Laviani graduated from the Professional Institute for Lutheran and Woodworking Crafts in Cremona, and then continued his education at the Faculty of Architecture in Milan, where he graduated in 1986. At the same time, however, he also attended the Milan Polytechnic School of Design, experiences that serve as a prelude first to his joining the De Lucchi studio and then to the opening, also in the Lombard capital, of his private studio.
Its distinct creative vein, enriched over time by experience, fits well with Emmemobili’s philosophy always aimed at experimenting and finding solutions that lead to unique results, and it is precisely in this framework that the Evolution sideboard fits, which aims to return that path of evolution of wooden furniture that the company itself has undertaken over the years.
THE CONCEPT OF EVOLUTION
In fact, at first glance, it seems that the design of Emmemobili’s Evolution comes precisely from a fusion of the ancient and the modern, certainly breaking with traditional aesthetic canons but returning a great deal of expressive force.
In fact, inside Evolution one finds two souls, only apparently opposed: on the one hand one notices the masterful hand-carved decorations in wood belonging to the classical world, and on the other the formal cleanliness typical of a modern sideboard veneered in wood.
While the originality of the concept already sums up much of Evolution’s character, adding to the exclusivity of the sideboard are numerous fine sandblasted oak finishes in a variety of shades, or details such as brass or satin-finished steel handles.
