Dada, the inimitable haute cuisine

Dada is a brand, a recognizable and inimitable image all over the world and is a guarantee of excellent and high-end achievements in the kitchen sector. It was 1972 when the Dada brand was officially created thanks to the efforts of Gaetano Garavaglia, who gave new impetus to the workshop founded in 1926 by Angelo Garavaglia. This opens a new chapter for the history of Italian haute cuisine furniture production. It was 1979 when Dada Cucine became part of the Molteni Group, taking on the visual identity, the result of Luca Meda’s intuition, that accompanies it to this day. Thus began collaborations with some of the world’s most influential and innovative architects, designers, photographers, and graphic designers who help create the entire Dada narrative. Yes, because Dada is not only a furniture brand but a true inspiration that makes innovation, contemporaneity, quality of materials, technological knowledge and relationship with space its plot.

Today Dada Kitchens is a market leader in the kitchen industry by virtue of producing models that are all different in type, function, finishes and materials used. Individual elements of each series can be combined with each other so as to create hyper-specific and highly customized solutions to meet the needs of Clients who, while not neglecting functionality, absolutely do not want to give up high-design products. Experimentation and contamination with professional figures of the highest level, combined with constant study of materials and design research, ensure that reliable and original types of kitchens are brought to market where technologies are indispensable without ever being invasive or covering up.

Design is the pole star of the Dada universe. A design that gives rise to creations that can become ‘standard’ but also to unique achievements that fit well into important architectural contexts, such as, for example, special contract projects.

Such is the case with Ratio, the kitchen designed by Vincent Van Duysen that, in its revamped look in terms of modularity and materials, retains a distinctive and recognizable architectural character; or Sistema XY where functionality is perfectly integrated with perfect modular geometries inspired by Cartesian rationality.

Ratio and the Architectures for the Kitchen

Ratio is the kitchen designed as modular where it is the structure and be the protagonist and give a direction to the whole realization: the bases, wall units, columns, hoods and accessories are architecturally designed and defined by the metal grids. The result is the eternal and elegant play of balance where different planes and full and empty volumes alternate and engage with the technical elements of the structure so slender and minimal.

Ratio is not only linear architecture. In fact, Van Duysen also incorporates into his design corner solutions, centrally placed islands and accessory furniture that can satisfy even the most demanding Customers with their finishes. Of course, there is no shortage of countertops where snacks can be consumed and innovative and functional solutions dedicated to both washing and cooking areas that fit perfectly into the grammar of the design. A grammar that is also enriched with new bases, slatted doors, and a lighting system that draws a decorative and evocative frame.

The materials chosen, selected after careful research, evoke Mediterranean hues with their recognizable colors: refined essences such as Thermo oak and sophisticated natural stones such as the new Breccia Capraia, silk georgette marble or Rapolano travertine to which metals such as bronze aluminum are added and interspersed.

Ratio is a true graphic kitchen within which every element, structure, surface and upright is part of an architecture in full view.

The XY System, the Cartesian plane that defines the space of accessories in the kitchen

Francesco Meda designed a new functional system for the kitchen, inspired by the perfection of an intuition that gives rule, today and forever, to reasoning and the relationship with space: the Cartesian plane. Thus was born the XY System in which every gesture, every kitchen accessory has its own place moving on the axis of the X and Y tracks.

The special feature of this System is that it can be combined and matched with the different models offered by Dada Cucine with both wall and freestanding island development. Like Cartesian coordinates, the XY System is oriented vertically and horizontally by different extruded aluminum profiles. The central toolable channel, the key axis, is home to knife holders, cutting board holders, spice and condiment holders but also to compartments for electrical outlets, fume extraction hoods, and dish drains.

From the equipable channel it is possible to insert elements that develop vertically as uprights supporting aluminum shelves with different finishes for the shelves, wood or stainless steel, which generate different aesthetics now warmer now more industrial and technical.

All this is only a beginning. Because of its flexibility, the XY System can be equipped with new aspects and types of use in the future. Its elements that disassembled again become mono-material components in aluminum, glass and wood and already look to the future of sustainable reuse-oriented production to achieve ever new combinations that can embody the spirit of the times.

The XY System really draws the Cartesian plane of the future.
