Italy would probably never have begun without that family tradition that, since the 1950s, has seen the father committed to passing on to his children all the passion cultivated inside his workshop, where the scent of wood was the master.
When, in 1979, siblings Giorgio and Silvia Cattelan decided to unite entrepreneurial spirit and an out-of-the-ordinary vision to land in the world of design, the inspiration to follow was given not only by the boundless passion for this field, but precisely by the desire to recreate an elegant and welcoming domestic environment, made of objects capable of excitement without neglecting their functionality.
Cattelan Italia took its first steps by offering small furniture complements in marble, an offering that was expanded over the years, however, as the company experienced a period of international expansion, finding its place in prestigious showrooms and trade fairs globally.
As the new generation joins the company, the journey continues and is enriched with important new features, such as the opening of the Carré showroom, spread over 2,000 square meters. Today Cattelan Italia’s offerings surprise with variety and quality, including tables, chairs, mirrors, sideboards, consoles, bookcases and more, as well as materials such as wood, ceramics, crystal and leather.
BIOGRAPHY OF DESIGNER GIORGIO CATTELAN
Giorgio Cattelan was born in Thiene, in the province of Vicenza, as the last of seven siblings. His father, a renowned carpenter in that small town in the Veneto region, had the merit of instilling in him, and his sister Silvia, a passion toward making and working with furniture that was shaped in the family workshop.
His sons Lorenzo and Paolo also joined the company in 1995: the latter will occupy increasingly prominent positions, taking the helm of Cattelan Italia starting in 2014 and making a key contribution to the design study of new products and their launch on the market.
CATTELAN TABLES AND CONSOLES
The tables are now undoubtedly among Cattelan Italia’s flagship products, reflecting the company’s philosophy that the home is “a world where everyone surrounds themselves with elements that are welcoming in form and substance,” as explained by Giorgio Cattelan himself.
