Creativity, innovation and modern design: here are B&B Italia’s proposals and sofas

An example of innovation and creativity can be found in Diesis 40, a sofa by Antonio Citterio that turns 40 years old in 2019 and is repurposed by B&B Italia Divani in a more contemporary key. This is a sofa with a classic flavor, but at the same time it gets a makeover starting with the reinforcement stitching, different leather upholstery for the cushions, and a new, softer and cozier padding. However, its strength lies in the original character of the product: the slender and very elegant metal frame, contrasting with the softness of the cushions, is able to give the product a classic and majestic style.
Another sofa that has been launched in 2019 is Piero Lissoni‘s new Dock upholstery system, which portrays itself as a completely flexible piece of furniture that can be adapted to any home environment. In fact, it consists of 84 elements that, combined in different ways, can offer multiple solutions. The interplay of compositions takes place on a textured, extendable platform: different sizes of back cushions, extra service elements, and upholstered armrests offer endless possibilities for experiencing and conceiving the system. Dock can become a chaise-longue with or without a backrest, it can be a sofa to put in the center of the room or, thanks to a more classic composition, it can become a corner and linear sofa. Finally, if you are looking for new colors and materials for your sofa, Dock, in addition to featuring the classic leather upholstery, is being revamped with new fabrics with a strong textural presence.
B&B Atoll, with its essential forms and slender yet firm support structure, is the exact expression of contemporary style and careful research for detail. The different shapes of the cushions, from the more traditional roller cushions to the modular, more modern upholstery, give the sofa a certain flexibility that allows it to be used in a variety of situations, formal and informal.
Piero Lissoni reproposes the idea of the suspended platform with the SAKé sofa, a project with a strong contemporary flavor, which manifests itself in the light metal structure supporting a seating system in different sizes and customizable according to space. The system is also enriched by the presence of a chaise longue and the possibility of transforming the sofa into a single bed, the only one in B&B Divani’s collection, thanks to the translation of the seat and the tilting of the backrest.
The Édouard family of upholstered furniture, consists of a series of seating elements that can be placed side by side, shaping different solutions, such as simple corner or linear sofas or chaise longues. The fact that it is possible to play with and customize seating arrangements makes Édouard extremely flexible. In addition, these sofas are designed in such a way that maximum comfort can be achieved, thanks to the wide seats andhigh back, which can also be equipped with a headrest.
Richard is presented as a sofa with a more traditional taste and hinting at more classic atmospheres. It is a system composed of different types of elements, of different sizes and shapes, which combined together create endless possibilities of sofas, adaptable to any way of wanting to experience the living space. Structurally, the sofa consists of a base that reaches to the floor, covered in the same material as the cushions and upholstery.
Linear, rational, and with a more traditional design, Michel Club presents itself as a sofa with comfortable cushions and ample seating, which allows for different configurations of use, from formal to convivial. Compared to Michel Effe, with its more rigorous and slender forms, B&B Divani’s Club version has a wider base. Michel Effe, on the other hand, presents itself as a more essential and simplified sofa with pure minimal and simple taste.
In 2015 Patricia Urquiola redesigned for B&B Italia Divani Tufty-Time ’15, which was revamped in the upholstery divided into large squares, combined with a folded bottom and giving it an unquestionably contemporary character. With well-defined forms and a marked and modular structure, this sofa is configured as an element that can ensure comfort for those who want to use it and elegance to the environment in which it is to be inserted.
