Gallotti&Radice, an Italian excellence

Gallotti&Radice, the sophistication of timeless Made in Italy

Fragile, malleable, plays with transparencies and gives brightness. Glass is a sophisticated material, complex to work with, but when done with the right skill it can give rise to spectacular objects, capable of embellishing rooms and giving refined and unique reflections.

For Pierangelo Gallotti and Luigi Radice, creating, in 1955, an art space dedicated to glass decoration was like listening to a passion and turning it into reality. Tradition and innovation mix and create a small and valuable production that starts with lighting fixtures, furniture items, mirrors: all unique pieces, made exclusively by hand.

The following year, the two partners felt the need to expand the collection and enrolled in the
school of art applied to industry
at the Castello Sforzesco in Milan. Here they take courses in drawing and decoration, grasping in detail every aspect of technical and ornamental design, and it is from here that an excellence of made in Italy was born, the Gallotti&Radice company, specializing in detailed production that implies continuous research and a great knowledge and mastery of the different processes for which artisans of the highest level are protagonists who guard the secrets of their art.

These years saw the beginning of collaborations with established designers of the time, which in the early 1970s led to the first successes, such as theiconic Adam table.

History has it that in 1971 architect Luigi Massoni specifically asked for Gallotti&Radice’s collaboration to create a window display at Mobilia in Milan, then a flagship store for design in Italy: a table was needed to create the Christmas-themed display. Thus was born the first successful item, the Adam table, made entirely of crystal, light, transparent, and elegant, with a 15-mm fire-curved and hand-ground base and metal parts in chrome-plated brass.

Subsequently, the company explored new horizons related to the creation of crystal coffee tables, creating, for example, the first set table with “Tris,” inspired by rationalist forms and featuring a steel joint, which shows its beauty and elegance while hiding the actual fastening system.

From then on, the history of Gallotti&Radice is a succession of successes until the recent era (2008), when the brand, on the occasion of its 30th anniversary, launched anunprecedented collection dedicated to the office space “Air,” declining concepts such as lightness, transparency and elegance, leading to a new timeless aesthetic of the highest quality.

Today, products from this line prove to be the brand’s best-selling products in Italy and abroad. Currently the company, although it has achieved internationality, continues to be family-owned, thanks to the new generation at the top formed by Silvia and Massimo Gallotti and Marco and Pierangelo Radice.

Zeiss Mirror, the curved, ultralight mirrors.

Essential, clean and at the same time decorative. Zeiss Mirrors signed by designer Luca Nichetto for Gallotti&Radice are a wall mirror system with a wooden frame. Curvilinear and organic in line, the elements in the series, which includes three versions that differ in shape and size, are made of hand-ground and hand-beveled extralight mirror panels lying on 5-cm-thick frames, available in white lacquer or treated with fabric effect in chestnut, sand and hemp colors.

Pandora, the refined sideboard covered in gold leaf

Elegant and sophisticated, Pandora is a sideboard produced in a refined edition. From the pencil of Pinuccio Borgonovo design came this furniture refined down to the smallest detail. Made of tempered crystal coated with gold leaf applied by exclusive handwork, which gives a special coloring to the storage unit: on the outside it has an uneven burnished hue, while on the inside it retains the brilliant golden finish that makes it resemble a precious casket. Exclusive and timeless, it is available in two sizes and two heights.

Bubbles, the minimal glass lamps that play with reflections and light

The allure of glass-the transparency, colors, reflections and shapes-is expressed to the nth degree in the Bolle collection, created for Gallotti&Radice by Massimo Castagna, which includes pendant, floor, table and wall lamps. These are mouth-blown clear crystal spheres containing dimmable and modular LED sogents, arranged in a free and striking manner. All of them, moreover, have characteristics in common. First is the minimal aesthetic, the orthogonal hand-burnished brass structures, and the fact that the spheres almost seem to float in mid-air.

Avant-garde shape and utmost attention to comfort for the Audrey curved sofa

The curved line outlining the Audrey sofa, by designer Massimo Castagna, is inspired by a cutting-edge design that reaches into the future with unique forms while maintaining a focus on comfort and traditional quality. The curved seat slender on the sides and wrapped in soft velvet, and the back that embraces it leaving the end free make it a contemporary interpretation of the elegant curved sofas of the 1950s.

Audrey is made of non-deformable differentiated density polyurethane foam and polyester fiber with internal wood frame en pendant with black lacquered feet. Its rounded shape makes it elegant, and its formal beauty along with the perfect proportions of the lines enhances its class and beauty. Perfect for any decorating style, thanks to its many upholstery options-leather, fabric and geometric patterns-it has its strength in customization.
