Fashion and Design

Red, Gold and Fluo colors: these are the 2018 fashion trends that emerged from the glittering Milanese week. Let’s find out together how the catwalks will affect home furnishings!

Not even a month has passed since the conclusion of the last Milan Fashion Week, and yet the 2018 fashion trends that emerged from the Milanese catwalks are already beginning to peep through the Sag80 Milan Showrooms.

Quotationism and provocation. Color combinations often considered difficult to manage.

These are the 2018 fashion trends dictated by Milan’s glittering kermesse, an event that reached its zenith in the Gucci show curated by Alessandro Michele. Long talked about for the visual exasperations of a location set up like an operating room and for the display of it-bags with reproductions of the faces of models, the event organized by the Kering Group brand, however, failed to counter the skill exhibited by Moschino in representing the current “spirit of the times.”

In fact, by mixing the sophistication of a 1960s-inspired glamour with the futurist touch of a science fiction aesthetic-embodied by the pop-alien masks of blue- or orange-skinned models-the Italian house was able to point the direction of a marker destined to steer the relationship between fashion and design for an entire season. The retro classicism of Jackie Kennedy’s unforgettable bon-ton suits and the fluorescent liveries so dear to 2018 fashion trends, in fact, wink among the garments of the Moschino collection and compose a style that is absolutely unmissable and capable of involving in its imagery not only the look of the individual but also that of the environment that hosts it.

Therefore, it is no coincidence that the 2018 design principle colors include the timeless red, declined in its noblest variants. Applied on walls as wallpaper or present in the home in the form of rich furniture, seating, trim or simple accessories, the shade Scandinavian, in particular, is definitely the most suitable shade to give your home a decidedly glamorous touch.

Of note in this regard are the pendant lamp Le Soleil – produced by Foscarini-and, above all, the iconic linearity of the Utrecht armchair-couch. Discreet and petite the first, the Utrecht armchair-couch – designed by Gerrit T. Rietveld and put on the market by Cassina – easily takes on the contours of an article capable of renewing the design of an entire environment. Built around a steel support structure and upholstered with polyurethane foam and polyester wadding, this seat represents, in fact, the perfect synthesis of fashion and design. Entirely played on the visual repetition of L-shaped lines, the Utrecht armchair-sofa represents to the ideal addition to the decor of one’s home, an essential complement to meet the 2018 fashion trends.

Another hue among the most used in the arc of Milan Fashion Week was, then, metallic gold. Applied to pants, trench coats and skirts, paired with longuette skirts and coats, gold-colored garments and accessories are shaping up to be a must-have in 2018 fashion trends.

So why not accompany the purchase of a fancy gold item with that of a fine designer furniture?

In this case, combining craftsmanship and design vision, De Castelli metal furniture appears as the happiest answer to every customer’s needs. Purchasable as the foundational pivot of one’s kitchen furniture or as the ideal core for one’s living room, the De Castelli Convivium table sports the features of a sculptural installation. Sturdy and stable, characterized by metal ribs declaredly inspired by theart nouveau of the Ecole de Nancy, the Convivium table is designed by Lombard designer Nikita Bettoni.

Finally, for the more imaginative, fashion and design offer decidedly bold color combinations, mainly played on the opposite poles of fluorescent tones and pastel shades. If the Milanese catwalks have rediscovered the playful shades of pink and light blue, in fact, just as massive has been the use of decidedly less orthodox gradations, whose sartorial use is matched in furniture colors.

In the area of modular seating systems, for example, the Cabrio armchairs produced by Living Divani entrust their distinctive urban look precisely to the luminescent hues of yellow and green, orange and purple. Combined perfectly with the rigidity of the volumes and lines of the Cabrio collection, these garish color declinations make such items the perfect complement for the setting up of a modern and playful outdoor environment.

For those who, on the other hand, are interested in more classic lines but, at the same time, do not want to give up the cool touch of 2018 fashion trends, an interesting solution, finally, can be found in the detail particularity.

Here, then, is where the quotations of the illuminations designed by designer Jorge Pensi for B.Lux rise sharply. Interweaving Scandinavian rationalism and American organicism, the Olsens S pendant lamp and the Olsen T table lamp reinterpret the concepts of these movements by relying on the visual lightness of metal and the classic shades of black and white, without, however, forgetting to indulge in fluorescent in the finish of the electric cord.

Fashion and design, design and fashion. A combination that is repeated, mirrored and renewed, because design-the real kind-needs little to be trendy.
