Milan 70s Furniture Showroom

The Best Furniture Store in Milan pays homage to the 1970s in an exclusive display

For Milan Design Week, the Sag80 showroom is transformed: a journey through time transports us to the 1970s. After paying homage to the refined elegance of the 1950s in the last edition of the Salone del Mobile, the store on Via Boccaccio continues its exploration and evocation of the most decisive and exciting moments in design history .

The project curated by Dome Milano Interior will transform Milan’s first design furniture showroom into a concentration of pastel colors, engaging geometries and precious materials. The unique composition designed for the occasion will not just give the viewer the chance to explore a unique design moment, but thanks to the creation of an engaging atmosphere the store visit will become a real and absolutely exciting experience, all inside the best furniture store in Milan.

It was precisely in these years that design rediscovered itself as an element of recognition, and thought of itself in other terms. The desire to go further, to make each object unique, is the most characteristic element of interior design in this period. These were the years when the first personal computers were born, think Apple, the first microwave ovens and halogen lights. Everything becomes high tech, the home is filled with new materials and colors. In this same period the concept of open space is born, the classically understood house is swept away to make way for new ways of conceiving the domestic space. Technology and the study of materials becomes a prerogative of all designers who no longer conceive of furniture on the basis of strict planning but are influenced by the plastic and sculptural capabilities of new materials and bend them to their own needs, alchemists rather than design scientists.

A golden moment especially for Italy, which at this historical moment returned to prominence thanks to its own designers, celebrated internationally, as the grandiose exhibition held at Moma in New York in 1972 well testifies. A truly pivotal moment, and the largest museum institution in the United States catches the changes in the world of interior design in the act and immediately understands their revolutionary significance. The exhibition brings these changes to the general public by immediately bringing them to the attention of the general public.

The project conceived by Dome Milano Interior for the Sag80 showroom will take the most advanced and original tips of that period and drop them into our days without compromise but with a new point of view. Mirrored wings, bronze lamps, delicate colors and geometries intend to enlarge the space, give new perspectives, and transport the viewer into a new dimension by placing him in the condition of advancing in the discovery of every smallest aspect of all the precious design objects in the store. The brands chosen for this unique display are among the most exclusive and interesting of the artistic design constellation: Minotti, B&B, Cassina, Porta Romana Lighting, and Pinton . These prestigious brands, in one of the best furniture showrooms in Milan, will deliver to the viewer the feeling that the revolutionary scope of that period is not yet over, that that past is still in turmoil in the ideas that lie of many of today’s designs.

The elements are all there: unique design, a magnificent showroom, the most exclusive design brands. All that remains is to dive in, get involved and learn about the decisive decade for design, for everything we see in our homes today, for everything that grew out of those revolutions, those ideas. To experience or relive it all, all you have to do is go to Sag80’s showroom on Boccaccio Street!
