Contemporary design and decor.
In 1927 the brothers Cesare and Umberto Cassina founded in Meda what was to become one of the leading Italian companies in the design and furniture market. The soul of this company has always been in the perfect combination of tradition and experimentation, Cassina is rigor and a spirit of research of design in every detail. An unmistakable line drawn by the pens of great names in both historical and contemporary design.
Andrea Branzi, Achille Castiglioni, Rodolfo Dordoni, Vico Magistretti, Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Ettore Sottsass, and later Piero Lissoni and Philippe Starck, are just a few of the many names that can be placed alongside Cassina’s.
A company to be remembered also for an extraordinary work of rediscovery and revaluation of objects designed by great masters such as Le Corbusier, Rietveld and Frank Loyd Wright, still in production today.
In 1964 Le Corbusier signed precisely with Cassina the first in a series of exclusive licensing contracts for the publishing rights to some of his models, recognizing their extraordinary industrial capacity. Over all, the LC Collection has planetary popularity, and the LC2 armchair is to date one of the best-selling objects in the design world.
To mention other pieces in production that have made design history, the Bobolitable by Rodolfo Dordoni, the chair Zig Zag and the Utrecht armchair by Rietveld, Gio Ponti‘s SuperLeggera and Philippe Starck ‘s Caprice chair are symbols of Cassina’s unique Made in Italy .
