How to furnish houses in the mountains

A special wooden furniture can change all your vacations: get inspired by Sag80’s tips!

Winter is coming, heavy coats are occupying our closets, and the first snow of the year is eagerly awaited. What other time could be better to think aboutdecorating homes in the mountains?

While we are immersed in traffic and a thousand daily commitments, there always comes a time in the day when we think, “Christmas vacation is coming soon,” and our thoughts run to the house in the mountains. Small romantic retreat or cabin among the slopes, mountain homes all have one trait in common: the ever-present wooden furniture.

Wood is the star of the much renowned Scandinavian style, which now extends far beyond mountainous areas. In addition to being one of the oldest furnishing materials, wood ensures simple and classy design, rendered in each object particular for its natural streaks that give unique and unrepeatable color plays.

In this article, we want to provide you with a brief guide to some of the most beautiful wooden furniture items that you could use for your mountain homes, really making the atmosphere of your parties unique!

And when it comes to wood, we can only talk about the brand Riva 1920, which has made a real empire out of wood furniture.

  • Cedar wood accessories

Riva produces all-natural wooden furniture accessories. The shapes can be either pretty fir trees or carved hearts-anything that evokes affection and winter is welcome at this time! Riva’s furniture comes across as unique objects, made personal by the nuances of wood. Small accessories ideal for making sophisticated and traditional Christmas decor.

  • Icon Table

Designed by Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez for Riva 1920, Icon is a table constructed entirely of solid wood. Icon takes the form of a large wooden top with legs composed of four heavy planks placed as a trestle to support the table. The finish was made from natural pine extracts-what else is needed to make it perfect for a mountain cabin?

  • Day by Day table

Designed by Riva 1920 in 2008, Day by day is a large table made entirely of solid wood, with support legs in a line of continuity with the top. Between 90 and 100 cm wide, Day by Day can reach up to 300 cm in length. This large table can therefore easily seat 12 people, making it ideal for dinner parties or large luncheons. Placed inside a rustic kitchen, with a large exposed hood, or in a dining room in front  of a large fireplace, the Day by Day table finds its natural home.

  • Coffee Table Speak!

Designed for Riva by Swiss designer Karsten Schmidt-Hoensdorf, the coffee table Parla! Is perfect for decorating a mountain living room. As its very name says Speak! is a coffee table that can be used-or that can be used-as side tables next to sofas. Just the right size to hold a tray with cups of tea or pastries Speaks! is the ideal complement for a mountain living room, suitable for both rustic-style and more elegant settings. The solid wood that composes it has a very clean line, resting on a sunburst base that gives movement and dynamism to the coffee table.

  • Soft Wood Sofa

Soft Wood is a sofa made in 2011 by Carlo Colombo for Riva. Soft wood has an exposed shell made entirely of solid wood with exposed vertical millings. Soft Wood complements its seating with soft leather cushions covered in pure goose down. The wood of the frame is finished with natural oil/wax.  Soft Wood looks just like the perfect sofa in which to lie in front of a fireplace, or in which to wrap yourself in a warm plaid to enjoy winter evenings.

  • Mia Wood Chair

Mia Wood was produced in 2015 by Riva and immediately became an iconic product of the brand. With simple and elegant lines, the Mia chair, is presented as a natural yet refined product. The chair, made of solid wood, is available with variants that enrich the seat, which can be made: either upholstered or recessed with a cushion for support. The Mia Chair is a truly classy seat that fits harmoniously into any setting. Either in the dining room, or in the bedroom where it can serve as a coat rack or object holder. Wherever the Mia chair is placed, it brings style and elegance – indulge in finding an original arrangement for it!
